Formulas - Coverages and Quantities
General Formulas
- There are 2000 pounds in a ton
- For most bulk materials, number of yards x 1.5 = number of tons
- Area of a square or rectangle = width x length
- Area of a circle = 3.14 x radius squared
- Circumference of a circle = 3.14 x diameter
- Volume of a cube = width x length x height
- Volume of a tube = 3.14 x radius squared x height
- There are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard
- Most boulders weigh about 170 lbs per cubic foot
Coverage
- 1 Gallon of Plasterweld or Weldcrete Will Cover
Approx. 200 SQ FT - 1 Yard of Most Bulk Materials Will Cover
- 320 SQ FT @ 1 inch thick
160 SQ FT @ 2 inch thick
120 SQ FT @ 3 inch thick
80 SQ FT @ 4 inch thick - 1 Ton of Flagstone Will Cover
Approx. 120 SQ FT @ 1 ¼ inch thick
Approx. 100 SQ FT @ 1 ½ inch thick
Approx 75 SQ FT @ 2 inch thick - 1 Ton Of Most Wallrock Will Cover Approx. 35 SQ FT
- Square Foot per Piece of Cut Stone
Length x Width (in inches) divided by 144 = SQ FT per piece
Formula for Mortar
- 3 Parts Sand
- 1 Part Common Cement
- ½ Part Lime
Stucco Coverage Formula
- Square footage divided by 9 = square yards
- Square yards divided by 6 = # of sacks needed
- # Of sacks needed x 400 = lbs of sand needed
1000 Brick or 500 8x8x16 Block
- 1 Ton Sand
- 6 Sacks Common Cement
- 3 Sacks Lime
