San Francisco Cobbles

From roughly 1848-1914, until the automobile became the central means of transport, cobblestones, stone blocks, and river cobbles were used to pave the streets of San Francisco. Ultimately, granite and basalt cobbles were the preferred choices of pavement because of their smoother surface and durability.

Reclaimed from the streets of San Francisco, these granite and basalt cobbles are believed to have been originally mined from Northern California.
